Overview

RecipeSnag is a recipe extraction platform that converts media URLs into structured recipes. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

Data We Collect

Account information: When you create an account, we collect your email address and a hashed password. We never store passwords in plain text.

Recipes and usage: URLs you submit for extraction, recipes saved to your cookbook, and basic usage analytics (pages visited, features used).

Device information: Browser type, operating system, and device type for analytics and improving the user experience.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate RecipeSnag:

  • Google Gemini — AI-powered recipe extraction from videos and images. URLs and media content you submit are sent to Google for processing.
  • Cloudinary — Image storage and optimization for recipe photos.
  • PostHog — Product analytics to understand how people use RecipeSnag and improve the experience. PostHog collects anonymized usage data and session replays.

Cookies and Local Storage

RecipeSnag uses browser localStorage to store your authentication tokens, theme preference, and other user settings. We use cookies for analytics through PostHog. No advertising cookies are used.

Your Rights

You can request to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time by contacting us. You can delete your account and all associated data through your account settings or by emailing us.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Publicly extracted recipes remain available even if the submitting account is deleted. You can request deletion of your personal data at any time.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Significant changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the site.
